I have a problem with my doctor refusing to renew my prescription
I am 58 have been on HRT for about 7 years and my new doctor won't renew my prescription. I am quite well, and would like to stay on the HRT, Femoston 1/10, for the foreseeable future. I have researched this thoroughly, am aware of the risks involved and I see this as my choice. Being on the HRT has been marvellous. Would I be able to get a private prescription for this please?

HRT question
I have been taking Nuvelle (not Nuvelle Continuous) hrt, which is sequential, for a number of years and have a monthly bleed. Nuvelle suited me very well. I did try Nuvelle Continuous once, but it didnt suit me at all; I bloated up, had a lot of bleeding and generally felt unwell, so i went back to Nuvelle which was fine and although the week of the monthly bleed was difficult the 3 really good weeks were worth the price of one difficult one. Nuvelle has been discontinued and my GP, who I am new to, as I have recently moved areas, has put me onto Kliofem. I asked for an hrt as similar to Nuvelle as possible, however Kliofem is not sequential and I don't believe it's what I asked for. I have been taking it for 3 weeks and already I feel it doesnt suit me, i am always tired, very low in spirits, bloated and having breakthrough bleeding. Is there an HRT available in the UK that is the same as Nuvelle, sequential, with same ingredients, that I could ask my GP to prescribe? I am 50 years old. I started taking Nuvelle aged 42; i lost a lot of weight due to stress which my GP at the time felt could have prompted early menopause.

Menopause - should I be doing anything about it?
Hi. I am almost 48 and recently started having hot flushes many times a day. They are not extreme, and quite bearable. Last period was January this year. I have gone on a healthy diet becaue of high cholesterol and taking regular exercise. I am also incorporating high calcium foods where I can. Should I be doing anything else about starting to be menopausal. I am worried about side effects of HRT, but not even sure if I need HRT. How do you know if you need it? Should I be asking my GP to check my hormone levels or something? My weight is 8 st. Height 5 ft. 1 1/2. Not sure if this is relevant, but could not have children, had IVF twice. Been on Pill for several years in my twenties. Had hysteroscopy recently and removal of endometrial polyp (benign). Have had recurring cervical polyps in the past. Gynaecologist said I may have had endometriosis in the past, but this has not ever been suggested. Reason for infertility was with my husband although I was in mid-thirties when having IVF. Did get pregnant once at age 23 but had TOP at 8/52. Have read a book on menopause but this has made me even more confused about what to do about HRT. Book said all doctors and doctor's wives take it (which implies they know something we don't). How does one decide between the problems of heart disease, breast cancer and osteoporosis etc. I find it mindblowing. I have worked several years as PA to gynaecologist specialising in cancers, so know about the risks of ovarian cancer and IVF drugs etc. Also worried about heart disease as have high cholesterol which looks like it is a genetic thing. I take Citalopram for panic attacks and take Seretide 50 inhaler.
