Vasectomy

I had a vasectomy about 3 months ago with no initial problems. However when I last had intercourse with my wife (today) I noticed quite a large amount of a browny in appearance substance (blood I assumed) in my semen. Obviously a little concerned as this has never happened before.

Thank you for your question.

Being 3 months old, I would suggest that this was old blood from the cut end of the vas deferense (during the vasectomy operation), which has now come through and passed out. As such, I would not worry too much. Clearly, it would have been a fright, but rest assured that it does commonly occur in the first few ejaculations after vasectomy.

If it persists, I would suggest that you are seen by your local urologist for further follow up.
