As such, I strongly feel that the correct advice would be to be seen in the Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) clinic - this would your first point of contact. There will be a local clinic near to your home, and the doctors and nursing staff there will be able to provide support and empathic medical advice as well as further tests based on the information you provide them with.
Clearly, this is the best approach going forward, rather than ignoring it and potentially "brushing it under the carpet".
