Ovaries Questions

    symptoms of ovarian cyst

I am a 52 year old woman with simple ovarian cyst. This has been investigated due to the fact that I have hypopituitarism so don't produce eggs and therefore cyst can't be functional. I have had 2 ultrasound scans, MRI and CA125 tests. Scans do not show any signs of malignancy and CA125 blood tests normal. The cyst is approx 5cm by 6cm. As the gynaecologist thinks the cyst looks benign she is not treating as urgent, she is waiting for a meeting with other doctors to discuss patients with cysts. This could take weeks and when I mentioned discomfort she fobbed me off and told me to take pain killers which aren't helping as it is more discomfort than pain. I have had stomach discomfort which I put down to the cyst being squished against my bowel - nurse saw this on ultrasound. However now I have a permanent discomfort towards inner end of vagina, or cervix area, sometimes relieved slightly by passing urine. Is it normal for a reasonably small cyst to cause this discomfort and press on different areas causing a variety of symptoms? I also have some wind in the vagina as well as having normal kind of wind occasionally. My mother died from malignant melanoma of the vagina although I undersand there isn't a direct link between this and ovarian cancer. As the MRI showed no abnormality other than the cyst itself which looks benign I may be over reacting but I do have a very high level of stress and high blood pressure and the mental and physical symptoms are a cause of concern.

I have had 2 periods in 6 weeks and twinges in lower left abdomen, is it ovarian?

Bloating of abdomen. Two periods in a six week period when normally they are 28-32 days cycle. Hot flushes that come and go. Sore and slightly swollen breasts. Went to the doctors yesterday and they said that they would wait 6 months to see if it would settle down as it may be a slight hormonal balance. I thought it might be menopause. At this stage they are only testing me for thyroid function. I have twinges in lower left abdomen, near pubic bone and to me, this has not been explained. Could you advise please? The twinges do wake me up at nights and the last 2 periods are definitely more painful....endrometriosis??? Please could you advise? Many thanks
